A car windshield is much more than just a piece of glass. It is one of the most important components of the car that protects you and the passengers. It would not be wrong to say that it plays an integral role in the overall strength of your vehicle. However, it is prone to cracks and chips. It is, therefore, important to have knowledge about windshield repair and replacement. Nowadays, there are a lot of myths about windshield repair of which people are not aware. Here we are debunking the common myths related to windshield repair:

Windshield Repair
All the chips are same

A very common myth among car owners is the belief that all cracks/chips on the windshield are the same. The fact is that there are as many as six different types of chips that can affect a car’s front windshield glass differently. The windshield of the car can have any of these chips - combo break, star break, clover leaf, bull’s eye, bee’s wing and half-moon.  Each of these cracks spreads differently and therefore it is important to take an expert’s advice if you see any of the cracks on your car’s windshield.

Minor crack on the windshield is safe

Many people believe that a small crack on the windshield is safe and nothing to worry about. The fact however is that when the windshield chips, it gets weaker over time. If left untreated, it can also lead to a bigger issue later. So, if you see a chip or crack, don’t ignore it. It is better to get it repaired as soon as you can.

Windshield repair/replacement costs a lot

Getting a windshield replaced does cost money but it is not as much you think. In fact, if you have a good insurance policy of the car, you may not even have to pay the Sonalika Windshield Replacement cost to the service centre. The best idea is to take your car to auto glass professionals as that will not break the bank. It will be the worth deal as you will be sure that the repair/replacement is done correctly the first time itself.

Windshields can be fixed at home

A common belief is that fixing windshield damage themselves with the help of a repair kit from an auto store if alright. They might think that they are saving on money, but the fact is that this can cost you even more on the windshield repair that you’ll need later. This is because repair done with the help of home kits can worsen the problem, and may even result in a complete replacement of the windshield. To avoid this situation, always take professional help when you see any signs of damage in your car windshield.

It’s good to know that chips in the windshield can make it weaker over time. I got a chip in my windshield last night while I was driving on the freeway and it’s a pretty big one. Looks like I should get it fixed tomorrow so it doesn’t continue to spread.
